Allotment Date

Allotment date is when new shares from a bonus issue, IPO, or rights issue actually get credited to eligible shareholders' demat accounts.

What It Means

Allotment date is when new shares from a bonus issue, IPO, or rights issue actually get credited to eligible shareholders' demat accounts. It comes after the record date, once the company has processed who's entitled and how many shares each shareholder gets.

  • Record Date: the earlier cutoff that decides who's eligible, before the actual crediting happens
  • Demat Account: where the newly allotted shares land
  • What Is a Bonus Issue?: where allotment date fits in the full bonus issue timeline
