Migration to Mainboard

Migration to Mainboard is the process by which a company listed on NSE Emerge or BSE SME moves its listing to the main exchange board, once it meets SEBI's size and shareholder criteria.

What It Means

Migration to Mainboard is the process by which a company listed on NSE Emerge or BSE SME moves its listing to the main exchange board, leaving the SME platform's rules behind for the mainboard's. It isn't automatic. The company has to clear specific size and ownership thresholds first.

How It Works

A company becomes eligible once it has been listed on the SME platform for at least three years, with paid-up capital above ₹10 crore, revenue and market capitalization each above ₹100 crore, at least 1,000 public shareholders, and promoters still holding at least a fifth of the company. Migration is optional up to that point. Past ₹25 crore in paid-up capital, it stops being optional and becomes mandatory.
